When seeking treatment to eliminate your panic attacks, how often have you been “taught” the same old outdated methods from your doctor or psychologist?
Why do these so called “experts” seem to promote the same old treatment ideas?
Think happy thoughts. Do your breathing exercises.
Or worse yet…
Try this medication. Try that medication. Keep taking the prescription even if the side effects are worse than the condition.
Does any of this sound familiar? I’m sure many of you have had these experiences.
How are people supposed to solve their anxiety issue if they are continuously exposed to these techniques and methods that only teach people to cope with anxiety?
Just coping is not good enough. Real solutions are needed.
Outlined below is a simple exercise to help end the fear of an anxiety or panic attack. For many medical professionals, this may appear radical. But this ideal for people who want to refocus their attention when they feel the pressure of a developing panic attack.
Eliminate your panic attacks in less than a minute.
When you feel the sensations of a panic attack building, it’s now time to confront the panic and invite it to happen!
Give your fear the power to start a full blown panic attack within the next minute. But only within the next minute. Not a second more. Having a time frame is important. After that, it is simply an empty threat.
- If you’re going to have a heart attack, then it has one minute to happen.
- If you’re going to pass out in public, then it has one minute to do so.
- And if you’re going to snap and lose control – one minute only!
I think you get the idea.
Setting a specific time frame establishes boundaries and gives you the control over your mind and body. You turn it into a poker game where you call your fear’s bluff. You are asking anxiety to show its hand.
What to say to yourself…
“I am not going to waste my time worrying about this. Enough already! I will give my fear exactly one minute to manifest itself. But if nothing happens after one minute, then I’m going back to what I was doing”
Then start counting down as slowly as possible. Don’t rattle it off as fast as you can. Act as if you never actually want to reach zero. This is key because it allows you to feel generous towards your fear. You are giving your anxiety every chance possible to manifest.
But let’s face it…
Deep down you know there is really nothing to fear.
Keep a steady pace through the countdown. You will feel your confidence soar because you’re demonstrating real control and authority over your anxious thoughts and bodily sensations. You are basically saying: “Listen fear, I am really trying to give you all the time I can to unleash your worst. I am being very generous to you with my time.”
Eliminate your panic attacks by counting down your way to freedom and confidence.
